The CCFM (Canadian Council of Forest Ministers) is seeking to retain a Communications Consultant (Coordinator) to support the Council and its Working Groups and Task Teams in effectively and efficiently delivering communications to identified internal and external audiences.
The Coordinator, under the governance of the Intergovernmental Network (I-Net) of the CCFM, will work with Working Groups, Task Teams and CCFM Secretariat.
Mandatory requirements
- Must have 5+ years of experience as a Communications Consultant
- Must have 3+ years in the natural resources sector (Ex: Forestry)
- Must have a minimum of 2 cumulative years in strategic planning and projects involving the coordination of communications
- Must have 2+ cumulative years of experience in public relations
- Must have 1+ cumulative years of experience working with and managing federal, provincial, and territorial relations
General tasks
- Establishing a project performance plan which can be reviewed and approved by I-Net;
o This would include development of a work plan, key priorities and performance metrics. - Under the governance of the Task Team Chair and I-Net launching a formal process to develop a practical and accessible communications strategy that identifies audience segments specific to CCFM, outlines CCFM communications goals and priorities and sets out a detailed work plan for CCFM which includes related performance metrics;
- Establishing clear links between the CCFM Communications Coordinator and existing CCFM Working Groups to ensure pan-CCFM collaboration and information sharing on all communication related activities;
- Developing an analysis of who is doing what communications about sustainable forest management, and forest-related issues in Canada and relevant markets;
- Carrying out a CCFM communications product inventory to collate and develop a system to share all communications products produced within the last five years;
- Proposing and reviewing content (as appropriate) and suggest updates to the CCFM website to ensure it contains up-to-date information about the CCFM, work of Working Groups, Council structure and membership, contact information of CCFM member;
- Engaging with I-Net, Working Groups, Task Teams and the CCFM Secretariat;
- Coordinating CCFM communications products and activities in a manner that directly advances the CCFM “Shared Vision: Toward 2030” and the CCFM Strategic Priorities;
- Providing advice and guidance based on Working Group and Task Team needs, audiences and communications activities;
- Fostering cohesion across CCFM Working Groups, Task Teams and the Forest in Mind Program to generate common and well-coordinated communications strategies, products and messaging;
- Balancing workload amongst Working Groups and Task Teams to ensure the Coordinator is available to assist with CCFM’s projects as appropriate;
- Profiling CCFM as a credible trusted source of science and policy information in domestic and international forestry related issues;
- Strategically identifying communications challenges for the forest sector;
- Generating communications products that are shared through the CCFM website, deepening external understanding of the forest sector, its environmental performance, awareness of the work of the Council and fosters more factually based dialogue around the key issues confronting the sector at any given time.
