Thomas & Schmidt's commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
Thomas & Schmidt promises to make a safe, easy-going, and friendly place for all employees and clients, where no one will face any kind of unfair treatment, bullying, or unwanted advances. We make sure that everyone is treated nicely, politely, and with respect. Our company believes in diversity, making sure we have different kinds of people in our team, and in equity and inclusion, which means everyone gets equal chances and no one is left out. We make sure these values are followed through our Fair Job and Anti-Discrimination Rules. This way, we will be able to keep talented employees and make our work environment a good place to be.
Putting people first
Thomas & Schmidt is all about fair job chances, applying Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policies to every stage of recruitment including selection of candidates, promotion and demotion, compensations and benefits, as well as termination. We believe in treating everyone the same way when it comes to getting a job or moving up in their careers. That means when we hire people, decide who gets a promotion or pay raise, and even when someone’s job ends, we do it based on their skills and hard work, not on things like their race or gender.
We care a lot about our workers. We know that they are the heart of our business. We focus on finding the right people and giving them all they need to do their best at work and grow in their careers.
We also really value diversity, equity, and inclusion. That means we’re always working to make sure our team is made up of different kinds of people. We believe everyone should have an equal chance to be successful, and we work to make our workplace a welcoming place for everyone.
Steps to promote DEI
We believe that having different kinds of people helps our business do better and become stronger. It’s very important to our success. We try our best to make things fair and to have all kinds of people involved. We do this as part of our promise to give everyone the same chance to get a job with us by:
- Using words that include everyone in our signs, papers, and on our website; – Changing our buildings and tools to help people who have disabilities;
- Giving time off for new parents and letting people have flexible work hours;
- Hiring, training, and checking on employees based on what the job needs;
- Letting employees take days off for religious or national holidays that our company doesn’t usually take off;
- Teaching our employees about how to talk to each other, not judging without thinking, not being racist, being inclusive, and cherishing diversity;
- Having an open-door policy which means employees can tell us easily if they feel they’re being treated unfairly, or discriminated upon.
