The Department of National Defence (DND) has a requirement for the continued provision of maintenance and support services for the ULTools application. The BSA2 must demonstrate the highest levels of customer service, technical knowledge and productivity.

Mandatory requirements

  • A two-year college-level certificate in computer science combined with a minimum of 72 months of demonstrated experience in software development or software maintenance or a minimum of 84 months of demonstrated experience as a System Analyst with emphasis in software development or software maintenance, plus OEM configuration and management of VMWare, SQL Server, SQL Database and SQL Server Reporting Services;
  • minimum of 36 months of demonstrated experience in the coordination, installation, operation, maintenance, resolution of hardware and software installation problems, monitoring of traffic, capacity planning, system backup, and user training for a software application;
  • minimum of 36 months of demonstrated experience in the evaluation, testing and deployment of new / upgrade software;
  • minimum of 36 months of demonstrated experience in the configuration of equipment with assistance from vendor or other computing resources;
  • minimum of 36 months of demonstrated experience within the last 120 months in analyzing software performance and system sizing;

Optional requirements

  • minimum of 36 months demonstrated experience maintaining CIS equipment, liaising with vendors, Life Cycle Material Managers (LCMM), and technical information services agencies, in the resolution of hardware and software failure / faults / distribution / installation and configuration;
  • minimum of 60 months of experience in developing test plans and conducting testing of software solution;
  • minimum 36 months of hands-on experience in providing customer service and technical support;
  • experience within the last 36 months working with: (1) Windows Server 2008; (2) VMWare; and (3) NetApps SAN Storage;
  • demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft SQL Technology and understanding of relational database systems:
    • SQL Server 2012 (or later version);
    • SQL Database Management;
    • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS);
    • Various versions of the Microsoft Windows Operating System;
    • NET Framework, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) using eXtensible Application Markup Language (XAML);
    • Java, Java Applets; and
    • 3rd party middleware software.
  • should have demonstrated experience in working in a classified environment;
  • minimum of 36 months demonstrated experience developing procedures to ensure data integrity in the database and devise data structures to support them.

General Tasks

  • Accepting, analyzing and troubleshooting of trouble tickets reported through the AF NSD;
  • Documenting actions taken to resolve reported problems through the RCAF’s Trouble Ticket Reporting System (Assyst), including actions requiring escalation to higher levels of support such as Ocean;
  • Performance of routine “housekeeping” tasks required to maintain the integrity of ULTools data;
  • Creation of ULTools user accounts and assigning user privileges;
  • Submitting recommendations or observations on matters that affect ULTools sustainability to AFCCIS LCMM/1 CAD/A6C2IS;
  • Developing and updating the ULTools configuration files, views, panes, reports, courses, mission strips, etc.

  • On an “as required basis”, the BSA will assist site implementation teams with an initial installation in the same context as any other BA under this contract.
