The SSC is mandated to maintain and improve the delivery of IT infrastructure services while renewing the government’s entire aging IT infrastructure. Shared Services Canada (SSC) requires a Business Architect to Provide implementation support for the migration of legacy Nortel PBXs to WCS IP Telephony Service.
Mandatory requirements
- degree in Engineering or Computer Science from a recognized university;
- fluent in written and spoken English and French;
- 15 years of experience with telephony, PSTN, Telephony Service architecture planning, design, and implementation support;
- 15 years of experience developing and providing presentations and facilitating discussions with project stakeholders and senior executives;
- experience in at least two large national enterprise projects, each exceeding $100 Million in value;
- 10 years of experience in developing implementation strategies and plans for large enterprise telephony services (at the national level);
- experience as Lead Technical Architect for a large-scale IP Telephony project that can service 75,000+ telephones at 120+ locations;
- must hold a valid Secret – Level 2 Clearance
Optional requirements
- 20 years of experience in the development of statements of work and contract terms and conditions for large national enterprise RFPs;
- 15 years of experience in developing procurement strategies and plans for network services for large national enterprise RFPs;
- experience in facilitating the implementation of complex Telephony and Telecommunications service projects;
- 15 years of experience in defining business and technical requirements for network services.
General tasks
- Provide implementation support for migration of legacy Nortel PBXs to WCS IP Telephony Service.
- Ensure compliance of WCS IP Telephony Service solutions to the WCS Statement of Work.
- Prepare MS PowerPoint presentations for SSC and DND Management that describes technical architectures, transition approach, service migration strategies in support of business transformation.
- Develop technical solutions for integration of special circuits and assemblies.
- Facilitate discussions and written communication in French or English, as required by the client stakeholders, between management, suppliers, project stakeholders, and technical staff.
- Develop architecture and design requirements for integration of WCS IP Telephony Service on SSC LAN and WAN networks.
- Manage workload for SSC WCS Project engineering team that includes allocating tasks, providing guidance in technical solutions while ensuring readiness in accordance with the implementation timelines.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to Project Team Workstreams, co-workers and other SSC Service Lines. This includes enabling existing SSC IT infrastructure services that includes WAN, LAN, IP address plan, DHCP and DNS requirements, E911 implementation, Security design and Firewall / SBC traversal, etc.
- Facilitate discussions and represent SSC during technical working group sessions with WCS service provider to ensure understanding of requirements and timely resolution of issues and problems.
- Prepare migration strategies, required documentation and detailed test plans that mitigate risks and ensure compliance with business requirements.
- Communicate implementation and migration approaches to clients and SSC Senior Management and operational teams impacted by changes.
- Interact with other WCS Project work streams, DND and SSC LAN team, WAN operations and key operational Telecom Service Line support teams to ensure coordinated approach from initial engagement of DND stakeholders to implementation of solution at a site.
