Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) has a requirement for a Business Analyst to provide programming support and maintenance services for the Pacific Region’s Commercial, Recreational, and Indigenous Fisheries Information Management Systems.

Mandatory requirements

  • experience in the following tasks:
    • analyzing business processes;
    • analyzing information needs; and
    • documenting statements of user requirements
  • experience in the following:
    • preparing test cases in support of quality assurance; and
    • performing integration; and
    • performing acceptance testing for complex application development projects.
  • sixty (60) months of experience in Information Technology (IT) as a Business Analyst for complex application development projects;
  • sixty (60) months of experience in the following:
    • performing business analyses; and
    • documenting functional requirements.
  • sixty (60) months of experience in the following:
    • evaluating existing procedures and methods; and
    • establishing acceptance test criteria with clients.

General tasks

  • Develop and document statements of requirements for considered alternatives
  • Perform business analyses of functional requirements to identify information, procedures, and decision flows.
  • Evaluate existing procedures and methods, identify and document items such as database content, structure, application subsystems.
  • Define and document interfaces of manual to automated operations within application subsystems, to external systems, and between new and existing systems.
  • Establish acceptance test criteria with client.
  • Support and use the selected departmental methodologies.
