Engineering support is required for the DGAEPM (Director General Aerospace Equipment Program Management)(R&CS) and ADS (Air Defence Systems) Projects. The Senior Engineer must assist the project managers. Engineering work will encompass coordinating all communications, electronics; electrical, and civil aspects associated with ADS projects.
Mandatory requirements
- University degree in Electrical Engineering;
- two (2) years of demonstrated engineering experience in the last ten (10) years in the following equipment design:
- Transportable Radar.
- Radio.
- Cryptographic; and
- Command and control systems.
- two (2) years in the past ten (10) years demonstrated experience in working with Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems;
- two (2) years demonstrated experience in the past ten (10) years providing system engineering support to a Project Management Team;
- two (2) years demonstrated experience in the past ten (10) years in the acquisition, integration, and evaluation of communication software and related software driven equipment;
- two (2) years demonstrated experience in the past ten (10) years in writing the following document types:
- testing procedures.
- visit reports, and
- project reports.
- two (2) years demonstrated experience in the past ten (10) years providing factory and field testing on radar and communications equipment;
- two (2) years demonstrated experience in the last five (5) years using Microsoft Office applications (MS Project, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Access);
- two (2) years demonstrated experience in the last five years in using Computer Assisted Design (CAD) programs (AutoCAD, Visio etc.);
- two (2) years demonstrated experience in conducting electronic platform security certification;
- two (2) years demonstrated experience in reviewing proposing correction, and accepting or rejecting project engineering documentation;
General tasks
- Develop, review, and comment on systems and sub-systems interface documentation (including but not limited to Interface Requirement Documents and Interface Control Documents);
- Review and evaluate engineering details (plans, specifications and related data) to assess their adequacy/suitability, and evaluate and make recommendations on system level solutions for discrepancies, deficiencies and changes to equipment and specifications, as directed;
- Coordinate with sub-system engineering groups and IPT to ensure system integrity, performance, reliability and maintainability;
- Conduct and monitor systems integration testing and evaluation; and provide system integration, analysis and evaluation services;
- Prepare procurement support documentation for TA approval such as technical data specifications, plans and drawings, standards and SOWs for miscellaneous interface and facility ancillary items;
- Review, analyze and provide recommendations relating to system software and its associated documentation;
- Attend, on an “as required” basis, design, technical and management reviews or meetings in support of R&CS and ADS projects in order to monitor and provide recommendations on progress and potential problems;
- Provide assistance in solving technical and engineering problems and recommend cost effective solutions;
- Evaluate, review or assess proposed test plans, proposals procedures and reports,
- Review, and provide technical recommendations in the evaluation of test and evaluation plans and present the results;
- Review and report on suitability of contractor produced documentation (i.e. DIDs);
- Conduct and perform engineering and technical definition studies, functional analysis, option analysis, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and cost benefit analysis;
- Provide engineering services for the investigation and resolution of problems in equipment design, operation, and training;
- Provide technical assistance to field personnel in the installation of systems to ensure satisfactory performance;
- Develop, review or recommend CM techniques for specific systems and equipment and establish CM processes/procedures for project implementation phase;
- Review and maintain technical documentation for all system configurations;
- Prepare specifications for and perform integration of Air Defence and Air Traffic Management systems, including transportable radars (including Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems, radios, cryptographic equipment, and Command and Control Systems;
- Certify that DND system specifications comply with military and commercial standards;
- Produce draft technical evaluation plans including evaluation standards and schedules;
- Participate in FATs and SATs and field trials;
- Conduct specialized EMC studies, produce acceptable EMC standards and test procedures and evaluate EMC/EMI test results, and conduct electronic platform security certification;
- Propose and analyze engineering change proposals. This activity includes the estimation of costs, identify potential risks and making recommendations;
- Prepare drawings, data packages, and systems manuals;
- Assist in the development, maintenance and review of Systems Engineering Management Plans;
