The Director General Information Management Project Delivery (DGIMPD) requires Business Transformation Architect to provide business and capability planning and business design support to the ICAM project.

Mandatory requirements

  • Minimum of ten years’ experience, within the last fifteen years, as a Business Transformation Architect in an Information Management / Information Technology (IM/IT) environment. 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the last ten years as a Business Transformation Architect, working on ICAM project(s). The proposed resource must have worked a minimum of six months on each project referenced. \
  • Minimum of two years of experience in at least two of the following activities:  
    Reviewing, assessing and documenting an organization’s business architecture;  
    Developing and validating ICAM concepts;  
    Providing technical advice on ICAM architecture; and  
    Developing processes for management or governance of an interoperability initiative
  • Has one of the following academic credentials:  
    A degree from a recognized university in the sciences, engineering or information management OR  a diploma (minimum 2 years) from a recognized college in the sciences, engineering or information management. 

Optional requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working as a Business Transformation Architect, on ICAM projects, in a government or private sector environment, within the last ten (10) years.
  • Experience with facilitating and leading workshops to elicit and document requirements, capabilities and gaps within the context of supporting the ICAM project
  • Experience with the development and delivery of IM/IT architecture documents such as the following:
    Business Requirements;
    Business Impact Analysis;
    Workflow/Process development;
    Reference Architecture;
    Taxonomy;
    Concept;
    Experiment Campaign Plan;
    Standards and Technical Specifications; and
    Data and information modeling.
  • Experience working within a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Department of National Defence (DND) and/or Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) project team.
  • Experience writing IM/IT business documents such as the following:
    Developing Concept of Operations (CONOPS);
    Developing use cases;
    Developing mission threads;
    Developing functional and non-functional requirements;
    Developing and implementing architecture frameworks;
    Developing architecture views including but not limited to operational process models;
    Developing organizational node models;
    Developing information exchange models;
    Developing logical data models;
    Developing use case models using MS Visio and/or Qualiware architectural tools.

General tasks

  • In collaboration with the client, conduct kick-off meetings to identify organizational critical success factors and Key Performance Indicators to scope the context for Business Architecture by conducting analysis(es) of the business environments(s), external drivers and the business strategy(ies);
  • Provide business transformation advice during meetings, Technical Working Group sessions, or at any times as requested by the client, in support the architectural work. This may be in the form of presentations, briefings, dashboards, etc.;
    Conduct capability assessments to identify capability optimization focus areas, gaps, risks and the organization’s readiness for business transformation;
  • Perform business architecture and modelling by working directly with management and project teams and facilitating stakeholder workshops to develop future state models, performance gap analyses, and develop transition plans to move to the future state;
  • Address existing gaps and move the business domain towards its future state architecture in support of future business growth and innovation;
  • Design business architectural solutions that are aligned with program goals and enterprise architecture vision;Develop integrated business architecture(s) through process flow mapping, key measures, and process optimization opportunities;
  • Work with senior business leaders and Enterprise/Solution Architects to identify, elaborate and plan future transformation programs and initiatives and align plans into corporate transformation roadmap(s);
  • Facilitate organizational capability redesign activities and workshops to improve business process efficiencies and effectiveness;
  • Create business transformation strategy(ies), plans, roadmaps and tools to support the business transformation and its implementation
  • Support the preparation of the business case and costed options to be presented to stakeholders; and
  • Coach, mentor and train the organization(s) to perform any of the above.
