The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Director Armament Sustainment Program Management (DASPM) is responsible for the full life cycle of Tanks, Armaments and Tracked Light Armoured Vehicles – from acquisition through sustainment to disposal.
DASPM 4 requires support from a Life Cycle Management Specialist (LCMS) to assist in the day-to-day operations of supporting the Leopard (Leo C2), Family of Vehicles (FoV), and disposal of Leo 1 FoV.
Mandatory requirements
- Must have 3 years of experience working with Heavy Armoured Vehicle Fleets.
- Must have 5 years of experience working in a military equipment related environment.
- Must have 3 years of experience using SAP for the following tasks:
- Extraction of meta-data for spare’s requirements analysis;
- Implementation/modification of fleet maintenance plans.
Optional requirements
- Should have 4+ years experience in a Canadian Armed Forces Maintenance Unit managing work orders including workflows, processing, and procedures.
- Should have 4+ years experience handling logistic workflow in a Vehicle Maintenance environment.
- Should have 1+ years experience in the Equipment Movement Order processes.
- Should have completed at least 3 courses related to at least 3 of the following subject areas:
- Project Management;
- Integrated Logistic Support;
- Life Cycle Management;
- Maintenance Management;
- Reliability and Maintenance;
- Risk Management;
- Configuration Management;
- Controlled Goods or equivalent training.
General tasks
- Tracking and coordinating technical issues on behalf of the equipment management team;
- Preparing and coordinating repair procedures, maintenance schedules and technical data;
- Planning, developing, implementing, coordinating and/or administrating a data management system;
- Preparing, modifying or updating Technical Instructions and Orders;
- Performing analysis of maintenance, repair and overhaul data;
- Investigating Unsatisfactory Condition Reports (UCRs) and Technical Failure Reports (TFRs);
- Reviewing the design, development, manufacture, installation and testing of prototype modifications;
- Preparing support cost option analysis for systems and equipment;
- Conducting technical studies to produce technical options, validate and assess options, assess technical risks and evaluate designs;
- Proposing and/or analyzing engineering change proposals, estimating costs/risks and making recommendations;
- Reviewing and making recommendations on work proposals;
- Provide advice to DASPM 4 team members, equipment users, and TA;
- Attend and participate in equipment management team activities;
- Assist in the development, perform reviews, generate comments, and provide updates on the following:
- Equipment life cycle costs;
- Equipment Performance and Technical Specifications;
- Statements of Work (SOW);
- Analysis of customer requirements;
- Maintenance manuals;
- User guides.
- Perform activities in support of the disposal of the Leo 1:
- Coordinate movement of Leo 1 C2 using the Equipment Movement Order (EMO) process;
- When required, assist in the development of contracts for the Leo 1 C2 for movement and monument placement;
- Update DRMIS when status of Leo 1 C2 changes;
- Track remaining spare parts held within Canadian Forces Supply Depots.
- Plan, coordinate and assist in the following activities:
- Liaising with customers, project team members, industry, Technical Authorities (TA’s), and other departments;
- Preparing briefing notes, technical documents, and presentations;
- Briefings to equipment users, management team members, industry, and TAs;
- Analysis of technical problems and proposal of solutions to the management team;
- Extract Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS) meta-data for fleet evaluation and analysis;
- Implement and modify fleet maintenance plans in DRMIS;
- Equipment Movement Orders (EMO).
