The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) has identified requirements for IM/IT professional services, at the Secret Security Level. Multiple resources specializing in various architecture services will be required to contribute to the IM/IT transformation initiatives for the Application Modernization programme such as senior Informatics Professional resources with knowledge and experience supporting and assisting with Protected B compliant Cloud Engineering, Architecture, Deployment, Security and System Administration, in accordance with the Government of Canada Security Control Profile for Cloud-based GC Services.

As the organization focuses on Digital Transformation projects the network analyst is required analyze the organization’s readiness to consume and develop new processes and procedures that manage and support all business tools from a both legacy requirement and cloud hosted solutions.

Mandatory requirements

  • Must have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science.
  • Must have experience, across at least 4 major complex projects, delivering all of the following:
    • Develop, and implement cloud network configurations and settings;
    • Prepare, analyze, and document the detailed network system requirements including identification and sizing of resources, technical dependencies, support software/tools, interfaces, peak and normal performance metrics, redundancy;
    • Install and configure modern virtual cloud-based or cloud-native firewalls in the provisioned cloud execution environments;
    • Create netwroking/routing configuration and intrusion detection/prevention.
  • Must be bilingual

General tasks

  • Provide detailed Progress Reports which may include the following information:
  • All significant activities performed during the period covered by the progress report;
  • Status of all action/decision items originating from each task, as well as a list of outstanding activities and the expected completion date;
  • A description of any issues or problems encountered which are likely to require attention by management;
  • Current milestones with planned dates, progress since last report, and next steps;
  • Plan and coordinate IM/IT project management activities for Cloud adoption including all aspects of planning/coordination/guidance and process;
  • Provide IM/IT documentation such as Statement of Requirements (SOR), project plans, feasibility reports, schedules, project management plans, risk management plans and lessons learned;
  • Formulate and manage the IM/IT project plans by defining deliverables, identifying and providing resources, identifying key milestones, reviewing project progress against milestones, and engaging ongoing risk management;
  • Develop and maintain systems for the management and control of IM/IT requirements on projects in a manner compatible with client standards and guidelines. This includes communications and consultations with various stakeholders in the process;
  • Support the Technical Authority to oversee IM/IT Cloud initiatives and various IM/IT initiatives;
  • Support the Technical Authority to oversee the Cloud change management process for IM/IT requirements;
  • Track and update requests for changes, work orders, tasks and incidents using the Remedy Smart-IT and BMC Remedy Change Management System;
  • Coach and mentor teams’ members and users on best practices;
  • Conduct and/or participate in stakeholder meetings;
  • Prepare input to presentations and executive briefings, issues papers and briefing notes, presentation decks and materials;
  • Meeting facilitation and reports (e.g. monthly progress reports) or Activity Reports;
  • Guides, manuals, reports to be disseminated to various stakeholders as required;
  • Meeting agendas, schedules and minutes, synthesis report of facilitated meetings;
  • Conversation notes, design documentation, change management documentation, site inspection reports and other work requested under the Task Authorization;
  • Prototypes, scripts, templates and code;
  • Areas to focus (but not limited to) – networking, telecommunications, front-end, mid-tier, back-end systems (web services and databases), infrastructure (security, servers, etc.);
  • Participate in the development of the transformation model and support its execution;
  • Conduct in-depth research into technologies, architectures used by other organizations, solutions, design patterns, approaches, methodologies, frameworks, and standards;
  • Share best practices and experiences in architecture while making recommendations that support both projects;
  • Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to team members, project teams, and development leads on a regular basis, via manuals, reports, info sessions, or other, as determined by the Project Authority;
  • Participate in and present at Architectural, Technology, and Security review committees when required;
  • Follow existing quality control policies and procedures to ensure quality of work to be delivered to external teams.
