The Technical Clerk will provide general informatics professional services to the Directorate of Maritime Management and Support (Management Information System) (DMMS (MIS)) and the Navy to manage its technical and material-identification data and to assist in preparing guidelines on existing material management and technical data management business processes and procedures to its members.

The work will be performed at 455 Blvd de la Carrière, Gatineau, Quebec.

Mandatory requirements

  • Must have a High School, College, or CEGEP Diploma/Certificate and/or a University degree.
  • 12 months demonstrated experience working with Systems Applications Products (SAP) in the Preventative Maintenance (PM) OR Material Management (MM) module. For example, PM should include but not limited to task lists and maintenance plans.
  • 12 months demonstrated experience reviewing and formatting technical data and assisting in the development of technical publications.
  • 12 months demonstrated experience working with commercial database systems MS Access, Oracle or OMEGA PS.

Optional requirements

  • 12+ months of experience working with the SAP PM modules, including tasks lists and maintenance plans.
  • 12+ months of experience working with the SAP MM modules, including updating material master records.
  • Additional months of experience reviewing and formatting technical data and assisting in the development of technical publications.
  • Additional experience in the use of MS Access, Oracle or OMEGA PS.
  • 12+ months of experience working with Integrated Data Environments (IDEs) and S1000D.

General tasks

  • Maintain and manage all the databases holding technical and publications related data.
  • Analyze, review, format and update technical documentation and publications derived from Technical Data Packages (TDPs) to ensure they are formatted in accordance with standards dictated by naval policy by reviewing, proofreading, amending, indexing, and updating (i.e., addition, deletion, or supersession). Technical Publications include documents such as In Service Trial Agenda (ISTA), Preventive Maintenance and Technical Bulletins.
  • Utilize departmental information systems (e.g. DRMIS, CMIS, KONFIG) to facilitate the technical publication approval processes such as Document Information Record (DIR) in DRMIS as well as analyzing and researching technical data problems and producing reports on maintenance or material master records.
  • Identify, investigate and research problems associated with Technical Data Management Systems such as SAP/DRMIS within the MM or PM module.
  • Perform administrative functions related to the correcting of technical documents, create and maintain distribution lists, electronic scanning of documents, creating and updating spreadsheets.
  • Work with Microsoft Office as well as query various types of electronic databases and filing systems.
  • Maintain and update administrative specifications and technical publications as listed, but not limited to in the list of Administration and Technical Publications.
