The Government of Canada, guided by Shared Services Canada (SSC) is committed to modernizing its aging IT infrastructure. This involves enhancing IT services, which include data centers, networks, and various computing devices. SSC requires a Senior Business Consultant to maintain the Workplace Collaboration Services (WCS) Project space in GCDocs.
Mandatory requirements
- Must hold a college or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or related field, or 10 years of experience in Telecommunications or Information Technology;
- Must have 5 years of experience working on SSC IT Infrastructure, Data Networks and/or Telecommunications projects valued at over 25M$;
- Must have 5 years of experience generating technical documentation;
- Must have 10 years of experience in the Telecommunications industry (Government of Canada and/or Private Sector);
- Must have 3 years of experience working on major projects, valued at 25M$ or more, following a gating framework.
Optional requirements
- In addition to the first degree, must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in any field, or have 10+ years as a Business Consultant;
- Must have around 20 or more years of experience generating technical documentation;
- Must have around 20 or more ears of experience in the Telecommunications Industry (For govt. of Canada, or the Private Sector)
General tasks
- Create and maintain an inventory of all documentation required for the WCS project;
- Develop/produce Project and Operational documentation;
- Provide project team oversight on key project deliverables;
- Liaise with key Project stakeholders, SSC Service Lines and also external stakeholders and contract vendors to provide assessments, recommendations and strategies to the Project Director and SSC senior management;
- Liaise with Project team members and Operational staff in the development of documentation;
- Identify Project issues and gaps during the documentation process; raise and escalate the issues as required;
- Plan, scheduled and facilitated white-boarding sessions to develop operational processes (including participants from multiple organizational groups);
- Solicit, collect and consolidate feedback on documentation and other project artifacts;
- Ensure that feedback is addressed, vetted and included in subsequent document revisions;
- Consolidate, edit and provide Quality Assurance for Project team reviews of contract deliverables;
- Ensure that all documentation is prepared according to project schedules;
- Secure document approvals from Project and Operations stakeholders and executives;
- Manage the Change Request and Service Request processes for amendments to Project and Contractor documentation;
- Maintain the WCS Project space in GCDocs.
