NRC is looking for a mid to senior-level career project manager to support the section of Branch Support Services / Health, Safety and Environment.
Initial period of 1 year
5 x 1 year optional periods

Mandatory requirements

  1. 120+ months (10+ years) of combined experience as a Project Manager
  2. Must hold a certificate, diploma, or degree from College/CEGEP or higher
  3. 36 months (3 years) experience, in the last 5 years, leading projects with a team of a minimum of 5 members
  4. 12 months (1 year) experience with Project Management tools (e.g. Microsoft Excel Template, Microsoft Project, etc.)
  5. 12 months (1 year) experience developing tools and/or approaches for broader roll-out and adoption throughout an organization
  6. 12 months (1 year) experience engaging with external and internal stakeholders on multiple concurrent projects

General tasks

  1. Maintaining project documentation and records
  2. Coordinating, drafting and preparing for signature formal project documents and reports
  3. Planning and coordinating project management activities including financial, planning and contracting aspects, with the help of HSE’s project coordinator
  4. Giving briefings on progress and concerns of project
  5. Planning, directing, and controlling the activities of a project team within scheduled time and cost parameters
  6. Determining and obtaining budgetary requirements, composition, roles, responsibilities and terms of reference for the team
  7. Formulating and managing project plans by defining deliverables, identifying key milestones, reviewing project progress, and engaging in ongoing risk management
  8. Coordinating and directing project team(s) in order to meet project objectives for content, quality, costs, and schedules
  9. Motivating the team to ensure commitment to the program’s objectives
  10. Updating and providing briefings to upper management on progress and concerns of the project
  11. Developing and maintaining project schedules, documentation
  12. Tracking the progress of the project including cost and schedule controls
  13. Leading process improvement initiatives, and facilitating/coaching teams which are performing process improvement initiatives
  14. Providing briefings on progress and concerns of procurement (Contract process management)
  15. Preparing, reviewing and/or finalizing Statement of Work for potential procurement
  16. Monitoring the implementation and operations of the contract against established goals, objectives and milestones
  17. Scheduling and leading project meetings to ensure project is progressing, project goals are being met and expected results are being achieved
  18. Ensuring project and contract activities, deliverables, milestones, timelines and financial commitments are tracked and commitments are being fulfilled
  19. Developing and implementing communication strategies and plans
  20. Developing and implementing business continuity plans
  21. Conducting post project reviews/lessons learned
