Public Sector Client is seeking one or more Security Architects to join the Cybersecurity and Risk Management Branch. This role will provide services aimed at reducing cybersecurity risk to the critical information assets of a public client and will contribute to the implementation of the Cybersecurity Maturity Program.

Mandatory requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with solutions architecture and/or IT design.
  • Candidate is available to work 100% onsite at a public client office in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada upon contract start date.

Optional requirements 

  • Local knowledge and experience working with public clients within the province of Saskatchewan, particularly as it relates to the technical and business landscape.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a variety of technical engagements at a senior level as an IT Architect, including:
    – serving as the lead architect or being responsible for a major subsystem.
    – conducting all engagements using a formal IT methodology and within a standard framework for information security controls.
    – delivering solutions or components of solutions that were successfully implemented.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and an in-depth knowledge of an industry standard information security framework such as ISO 27001 or an equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience of DevSecOps operations and automation that support enterprise products and services development and deployment.
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple architecture methodologies and an ability to compare them.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of a wide variety of technologies and how they are securely implemented.
  • Have received formal training in a recognized IT design methodology and have experience implementing that methodology on an IT design engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise through multiple projects in architecting solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience applying current knowledge of key trends in one or more implemented solutions (such as integrations, data management, technical governance).
  • Has served as an IT Architect through the full lifecycle of a solution. The candidate should demonstrate experience and involvement through strategy, planning, design, implementation, and management of at least one project or engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in incident and problem management by collaborating with various teams to ensure customer issues are resolved efficiently.
  • Achievement of Architecture related certification such as TOGAF, SABSA, or similar industry recognized certification is a definite asset.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional business experience in a technical field is considered an asset.
  • Completion of at least one formal course in project management is considered an asset.

General tasks

  • Participate in project design reviews to ensure infrastructure and application designs adhere to public client security guidelines and standards;
  • Collaborate with the Solution Architects and vendors in identifying cloud security requirements and secure integration of Endpoint, Network, and Cloud solutions;
  • Analyze the current environments to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvements;
  • Analyze security industry best-practices and market trends, determine their potential impact on the enterprise, and provide leadership for adapting to our business;
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and suggest suitable controls;
  • Be responsive and decisive about adjusting architecture as customers’ requirements, market conditions and technology evolve;
  • Partner with Solution Architects to facilitate the evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard software and solution configurations;
  • Ensure existing data/information assets are identified, stewarded, and leveraged across the enterprise;
  • Balance the need for access to information against security and performance requirements;
  • Ensure information security is built into architecture solutions to address all identified risks to assets within the organization, meet regulatory and legislative compliance while ensuring security solutions are leveraged across the organization;
  • Prepare Security advisory on existing technology platforms;
  • Aid and support to the Security Risk, Governance, Compliance, and Operations functions;
  • Leading from an Information Security perspective, the upgrade and renewal of GOS’s critical information environments;
  • Redesign of client’s critical infrastructure as required;
  • The retirement of legacy environments;
  • Provide advisory services for security risk mitigation; and
  • Other Information Security and Architecture initiatives as assigned by the Branch.
