Public Sector client is seeking an engineering consultant to support the update of the Hydrogen-Safe Labs, located in Vancouver, British-Colombia.

Mandatory requirements

  • University degree (PhD, Graduate, Undergraduate) and a minimum of six (6) years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the last ten (10) years in applying installation codes with a minimum of three (3) of the following (CAN/BNQ 1784 000, Fire Codes, Building Codes, CEC Chapter 18, Compressed Gases, NFPA 2) and hydrogen-relevant standards to hydrogen testing facilities.
    Experience applying installation codes and hydrogen relevant standards to hydrogen testing facilities must include all three (3) of the following:
    1. Flammable gas safety management system requirements (e.g., flame detectors, gas detectors, gas control, emergency shutoff systems, and ventilation systems);
    2. Area classification;
    3. Selection of components rated for compressed hydrogen.
  • Must provide valid proof of professional certification for the licensed P.Eng. who will endorse and seal the final report, confirming their good standing with the Professional Engineers Association.

General Tasks

  • Bi-weekly meetings to provide status updates to the Technical Authority
  • Inspecting the labs and hydrogen infrastructure
  • Review of relevant building/lab documentation, codes/standards.
  • Review our intended use of the lab space and additional zones to be added to the hydrogen safety
    system.
  • Provide feedback of the facility/system design to Technical Lead
  • Assist Technical Lead to supervise facility/system installation and commissioning
    o preparing specifications for the integration of systems and equipment
    o preparing specifications and statements of work for the procurement of systems, parts installation
  • Document the facility upgrades
    o generating and/or evaluating commissioning plans, procedures and reports
    o producing draft specifications of systems, sub-systems, equipment, interfaces or ancillaries
    o developing and assessing maintenance strategies, calibration strategies, plans and support
    requirements
  • Sign-off (stamp by a professional engineer) for final approval of technical documentation.
