Software Architect

ISED is looking to engage specialized Application Software Architects to ensure the continuity of several projects, implementation and transformation within ISED including the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy. Support is needed to maintain the existing legacy system (IMPACT) while also providing insight into the functionality in order to inform modernization projects such as Estate Administration. All activities currently supported by IMPACT must be modernized to retire the aging application. As this transformation process is estimated to take several years for completion, it will require ongoing support both for maintenance and for input into the modernization.

Mandatory requirements

• Ten (10) years professional work experience working as an Application Software Architect
• Minimum of 7 years professional work experience developing PowerBuilder (version 10 or higher) technical architectures, frameworks and strategies for an organization/application area to meet business and application requirements
• Minimum of seven (7) years professional software development experience with the PowerBuilder Integrated Development Environment (IDE), version 10.0 or higher
• Minimum of seven (7) years professional work experience performing requirements analysis, design and architecture for medium to large scale Windows applications (over 100 users with at least 500 windows and 1000 data windows) with PowerBuilder version 10 or higher
• Minimum of seven (7) years professional work experience ensuring the integration of all aspects of large scale Windows applications (over 100 users with at least 500 windows and 1000 data windows) with PowerBuilder version 10 or higher
• Minimum of seven (7) years professional work experience using Erwin or similar data modeling tool for a data schema of at least 500 tables.

Optional requirements

• Work experience developing applications using Oracle version 10.x or higher
• Work experience with Oracle database objects and Oracle database replication, including coding experience with PL/SQL and writing stored procedures and triggers
• Work experience interfacing PowerBuilder applications to peripheral devices, such as POS (Point Of Sale) and BarCode printers using ActiveX control
• Work experience architecting and developing applications using PowerBuilder 12
• Work experience coding, testing, and implementing software changes to PowerBuilder applications

General Tasks

• Using expertise and experience with PowerBuilder Integrated Environment (IDE), version 10.0 or higher:
  o Develop technical architectures, frameworks and strategies that detail the current state of the Impact
  application as well as future state transformation recommendations
  o Contribute to technical specifications that detail a transformation roadmap to migrate from a PowerBuilder
  based system to a modern framework
  o Code, test, and implement software changes to the current Impact system as needed to support
  transformation, integration and change to integrated systems;
  o Coordinate and conduct Unit, System and Stress testing for PowerBuilder modules requiring changes due
  to transformation in integrated systems;
  o Ensure the integration of all aspects of the project’s technology solution with other platforms currently in
  use;
• Receive, triage and action tickets from the user community related to urgent changes, fixes or data requirements
  prior to the decommissioning of the system;
• Collaborate team effort with the Project Manager, Developers, and Testers;
• Meets with clients when requested for deliverables;
• Provide status reports/presentations as required; and
• Complete and submit, for weekly approval, time sheets by project using the (in-house Project Tracking System)
• Integration of all aspects of large scale Windows applications (over 100 users with at least 500 windows and 1000
  data windows) with PowerBuilder version 10 or higher.
• Using Erwin or similar data modeling tool for a data schema of at least 500 tables. This should be addressed in
  the tasks and/or deliverables.
• Developing applications using Oracle version 10 or higher
• Oracle database objects and Oracle database replication, including coding experience with PL/SQL and writing
  stored procedures and triggers
• Interfacing PowerBuilder applications with MsOutlook, using Microsoft OLE to interface with word processing
  packages such as MsWord.
• Interfacing PowerBuilder applications to peripheral devices, such as POS (Point Of Sale) and BarCode printers
